April 16 — Community Environmental Council (CEC) in Santa Barbara to hold next Climates Stewards course

Join a Community of Local Activists

CEC’s next Climate Stewards course

begins on Wednesday, April 16

Grassroots action is now more critical than ever to combat climate change and protect our communities. CEC’s Climate Stewards certification program is designed to foster connection, confidence, and inspiration for community-based environmental action.

Taking bold measures to stop the climate crisis requires all of us — non-profit staff, professionals, recent college graduates, retirees, and community members — to work together. The Climate Stewards course provides participants with the tools needed to take individual and collective action that makes an impact.

If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to lead environmental action in your community,

now is the time!

The next cohort starts April 16, 2025.

Invest in your future and the future of our planet.

Anyone can be a Climate Steward!

Maureen Ellenberger joined forces with CEC Climate Projects Associate Ana Rico for their Climate Stewards course project to develop bilingual curricula for school teachers that introduces young students (and their parents) to climate-related careers, and connects local schools to climate professionals. Through their project, Maureen and Ana are delivering curricula and organizing several guest speakers — including some of their fellow CEC Climate Steward alumni — at El Camino Elementary School in Goleta and La Colina Junior High in Santa Barbara.

Maureen is incredibly active in the Santa Barbara community, serving as treasurer for the Sierra Club Santa Barbara Chapter, a member of the board of directors for Doctors Without Walls SB, an executive committee member of SAFE, and a member of the Fearless Grandmothers of Santa Barbara.
