CAMARILLO — Angeles Small has been named executive director of the Social Justice Fund for Ventura County, the organization reported in a media release.

Small has more than 15 years of experience in the management and development of organizations in United States and Mexico, having built her career focused on youth leadership development and community organizing, the organization reported in a media release. Additionally, she brings to the Social Justice Fund an extensive marketing background in media advertising and broadcasting.

In efforts to include Ventura County youth in collective community leadership, Small has been a key partner for the Social Justice Fund (SJF), officials reported. Her vision and support allowed SJF to engage some of the most extraordinary young leaders in the County through the 2011 On the Road to Change Bus Tour.

“SJF is fortunate to have a leader of this caliber join our team,” Kris Kelkar, co-chair of SJF’s Steering Committee, stated in the release.  “Angeles’ unique background in media communications and youth development are aligned with SJF’s plan to draw more attention to important social justice issues and to develop our community of organizations, activists, and donors working for positive social change.”

Small has a degree in Journalism and Mass Media Communication from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and she holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey

The Social Justice Fund for Ventura County is currently a donor-advised fund at the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF).  SJF was founded in 2005 and has gone through 6 grantmaking cycles, investing over $300,000 in local social change projects and organizations.  We focus on creating real community change through funding and education that develops leaders, and inspires and motivates people to become involved as advocates for change.
