OXNARD — While the Union and Confederate armies fought each other on land, an extensive naval war was waged on America’s rivers and oceans, shaping the strategic and economic fortunes of the North and South. Historians Jim Kosinski and Jerry Leckie will present America’s Civil War Navies: North and South, a talk about the innovative maritime strategies, designs and armaments that emerged from the ferocious naval battles of America’s Civil War, at the next Channel Islands Maritime Museum Speaker Series, Nov.17, at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum, 3900 Bluefin Circle, Oxnard.
The Speaker Series is a lecture series held every third Thursday at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. Refreshments are served at 6.30 p.m. and the lecture begins at 7.00 p.m. Entry is free with membership, $5 for non-members, $4 for seniors/students/active military.
