AIDS partnership seeks dancers

The Ventura County AIDS partnership is seeking dancers for the “Rhythms of Life: Dance for AIDS”  celebration on May 21.

More than 300 guests were entertained by a cast of 100 performers and volunteers last year during an event designed to inspire and educate the community about the impacts of HIV around the world, the group stated in a media release.

“The main foundation for the event is community engagement, not a 100 percent professional show. It’s an amazing opportunity to support the cause while gaining exposure for your dance group. We want to connect with people who believe in the cause and want to lend their time and passion for the cause. We are looking for dance groups that are flexible, easy-going, and fun-loving. We encourage interested groups to contact us early as we will review applications on a continual basis. To create a well rounded, multicultural experience, once we have confirmed a particular style of dance it is unlikely that we will accept another group with the same style. You can download the information packet and application at www.danceforaids.org

Applications are due by Feb. 7, 2011.

“Volunteer and Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Sponsorship of the AIDS Partnership is one of the best investments of an organization’s philanthropic dollars. We have a great benefits package to promote organizations who join this broad, powerful and effective community response to the AIDS pandemic. Sponsors can feel satisfaction in knowing that the majority of sponsorship goes directly to support programs. Sponsors to date include FASTSIGNS of Ventura and EPIC.”

The Ventura County AIDS Partnership uses local donations to match foundation funds to support local AIDS care and prevention programs. VCAP is providing $68,000 in grants to those local programs in 2011. VCAP is co-convened by United Way of Ventura County and Ventura County Community Foundation and is a community partner of AIDS United.
