OXNARD — Abiel Acosta, the founder and president of Acosta Wealth Management, recently received the prestigious Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® credential from the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA).

The credential is among the most valuable and sought-after designations in the financial advisor industry. Developed by some of the nation’s leading advisors and retirement plan professionals, it demonstrates that a recipient has the required knowledge, expertise and commitment to act as a plan fiduciary themselves, and to help other plan fiduciaries manage their roles and responsibilities.

Obtaining the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® credential requires thorough training and study in areas such as fiduciary responsibility, regulatory compliance, and best practices in plan management. Recipients must also successfully complete the CPFA® Credential Exam.

Acosta has worked as a financial planner and advisor for more than two decades, earning the respect of his clients and colleagues. He founded Acosta Wealth Management in 2011, where he leads an independent financial planning team focused on helping clients pursue long-term financial success through a diligent and proactive financial planning process. The firm specializes in working with professionals and small business owners.

In addition to the new Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® credential, Acosta earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner certification in 2009, a certification earned only after meeting rigorous education, examination, experience and ethics requirements. Additionally, he has earned his Certified Business Exit Consultant® designation, which requires over 50 hours of coursework, an exam and submission of a suitable exit plan with an actual business owner. He is an Investment Advisor Representative and Registered Representative of Osaic FA, Inc. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College.

Born and raised in Ventura to a family of hardworking restaurant owners, Abiel’s investment in the community extends beyond work with his clients. He is a board member of Ventura County Civic Alliance, an active member and past president of Business Network International, and a member of Provisors, the Ventura Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Ventura. He currently resides in Moorpark with his wife Cristina, stepdaughter Faith, daughter Magdalena and their Pitbull Naya.
