The 2025 Grammy winner for Best Classical Instrumental Solo returns for a recital exploring the musical context of Beethoven’s revolutionary Sonata No. 30, op. 109

    • Víkingur Ólafsson’s fall 2025 recital tour, titled Opus 109, draws its name from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 30 in E Major, op. 109, which serves as the centerpiece of the program
    • Ólafsson’s thoughtfully curated program juxtaposes works by Bach and Schubert with Beethoven’s sonata No. 27, op. 90 to put the singular achievement of the Opus 109 sonata in a revealing, deeply satisfying musical context
    • This performance, which anticipates the release of  Ólafsson’s next album, Opus 109 – Beethoven · Bach · Schubert  on November 21, is the only West Coast date for the Opus 109 program.
