| Dear Neighbors,
This is a friendly reminder that I will be hosting a Zone 0 Town Hall next week. You are invited to come out to discuss the State’s new draft regulations. There’s been significant confusion and concern about what the proposed regulations mean and how they might affect property owners.
This Town Hall is your opportunity to:
- Understand the new State proposals clearly
- Ask questions directly of the experts
- Hear community concerns
- Learn how to share your feedback with the California Board of Forestry & Fire Protection as they finalize these rules
Event Details
- Date: Wednesday, September 17, Time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Location: Fire Headquarters 2400 Conejo Spectrum St, Newbury Park
- The event will be streamed on the VCD2Sup Youtube Channel
Speakers
- J. Lopez, Board Member, California Board of Forestry & Fire Protection
- Yana Valachovic, Scientist with the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources Fire Network
- Steve Hawks, Senior Director of Wildfire, Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety
- Stephen Watson, Executive Director, Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council
- Joe Morelli, Fire Marshal, Ventura County Fire Department

What Is Zone 0?
“Zone 0” refers to the first five feet around a structure, including decks, patios, siding, vents, plants and trees. The State’s proposals include guidelines on vegetation, materials, and maintenance in this perimeter.
