SBCC Foundation holds ‘VIP Kick-Off Party,’ campaign on March 14

A student rally will also take place directly before the VIP night

SANTA BARBARA — The Foundation for Santa Barbara City College will host a VIP kick-off party and call night as the official start of the college’s Campaign for Student Success from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 at Santa Barbara City College in the John Dunn Gourmet Dining Room, the foundation reported Monday in a media release.

A student rally will also take place from 4 to 5 p.m. in front of the Campus Bookstore in celebration of the Campaign for Student Success kick-off.

The interactive six-week campaign (March 14 through April 30) is the most important initiative that the Foundation embarks upon to raise funds for student support and critical College programs during the year, the organization reported. The VIP Volunteer Night will be a fun, upbeat and spirited event where the community’s top leaders, businesses, the Foundation for SBCC Board President and Members, current students and alumni, SBCC faculty and staff, and college supporters will be able to show their support of education and student success. The evening will include hors’devours prepared by SBCC’s School of Culinary Arts students, wine, live music, a photo booth and whimsical props, displays showcasing student on-campus organizations and more!

Master of Ceremony, Catherine Remak, will welcome guests as they enjoy the party and learn more about student organizations. The second portion of the evening will gather the VIP’s for a brief training on making phone calls to the community to support SBCC students. Then the call-making will commence with pep talks and fundraising milestones announced throughout the evening!

Money raised from the Campaign for Student Success will support students in a multitude of ways, from: scholarships, book grants, tutoring, child care for single parents, extended library hours and resources, Continuing Education classes, and so much more!

The campaign will use both traditional phone calls and will introduce this year an e-mail and social media component through an innovative service, Blackbaud’s Friends Asking Friends, where people can cheer on and encourage each other through the use of Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks and also raise money with their own participant page.
