Hello,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC), I am pleased to announce two organizational changes. These changes will help us lay a stronger foundation for our Fellowship program to ensure its growth and sustainability.
Firstly, I am pleased to announce our new Program Manager, Jonathan Macaranas – who goes by “Mac.” With over 28 years in philanthropy and nonprofits, Mac brings a wealth of experience and energy to SJFVC. He worked alongside many social change allies on a wide spectrum of regional and national issues, including affordable housing, arts and culture, civic engagement, community health improvement, economic development, financial education, public education K-12, women’s health, workforce development, youth development, etc.
Mac served on various community advisory committees and Boards of Directors, including the Center for the Pacific Asian Family, the Greater Seattle Business Association, KCET-TV PBS LA, and the Neighborhood Funders Group. Some of his past institutional affiliations include Alliance for Nonprofit Management, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, Business for Social Responsibility, Council on Foundations, Grantmakers for Education, Grantmakers in Health, Hispanics in Philanthropy, Women & Philanthropy, etc.
Mac grew up in south Oxnard and attended Blackstock Elementary and Channel Islands High School. After graduating college, he joined the US Navy and served with the 6th Fleet (Mediterranean operations) and landed in private philanthropy shortly after the Gulf War. He is
a classically trained musician, published poet, and sports enthusiast, and can often be found in the community participating in roundtable discussions.
“Today, we stand on the shoulders of everyday citizens, past and
present, who envision and work tirelessly for a better tomorrow for
all. I’m excited to partner with you in supporting today’s
courageous and emerging leaders who are making that vision a
reality.” ~ Mac
Secondly, it is my pleasure to announce that Kathryn Kinberg, who has been our Program Manager for the past 2 years is moving to a new position of Grant Manager. Kathryn has been instrumental in the growth of the Fellowship program and has increased our revenue through fundraising, particularly through foundation grants. In this role Kathryn will continue to help us to grow our institutional support while she pursues a certification for teaching.
We are very happy to have “Mac” join us and have Kathryn continue her excellent work for SJFVC. Both of these individuals bring a passion and a professionalism that will help the SJFVC to continue to make an impact on Ventura County and build future leaders for social
change.
Please join me in welcoming Mac and congratulating Kathryn.
Thank you for your continued support,
Michael Teasdale
