| Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Annual “Coppers and Choppers” Event
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation presents the annual “Coppers and Choppers” event on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
This FREE family-friendly event is open to all community members and will be held at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, 375 Durley Ave. in Camarillo.
The event will feature Sheriff’s deputies, K-9 Units, mounted patrol, search and rescue, marine operations, bomb/arson unit, SWAT, and up close and personal viewing of various law enforcement vehicles and helicopters. There will be food trucks on hand, and for the little ones, a coloring contest, bounce house, photo booth, and kid print.
Note: There will be working police dogs on site, so no personal pets will be allowed.

| The County of Ventura Celebrates Latino Heritage Month |
| Latino Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 – October 15. During this month we will celebrate the diverse cultures, values and traditions of individuals with Latin American heritage and who self-identify as Latino/a, Latinx and Hispanic. We will share personal narratives from County employees as they reflect on their own unique experiences.
This national observation was first introduced in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week, under President Lyndon B. Johnson. On August 17, 1988 Congress passed a law to extend it into a 30-day celebration during Ronald Reagan’s presidency. Since then, government institutions have been honoring this national month-long celebration.
Ever wondered why the observation is celebrated during this time? The dates coincide with independence celebrations throughout Latin America. |

Ventura County Department of Airports Hosts Final Series of Part 150 Noise Study
|
| The Ventura County Department of Airports will host the final round of community meetings for the Part 150 Noise Compatibility studies for Oxnard Airport and Camarillo Airport. These meetings will include a review of proposed future mitigation measures as well as a Q&A element for the community. Members of the public will also have access to the final chapters of the studies (chapters 5, 6, and 7).
CAMARILLO AIRPORT:

OXNARD AIRPORT:
Date: Tuesday, October 8th, 2024
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Place: Courtyard by Marriot (Esplanade Drive)
Spanish and/or Mixteco interpretation services will be provided for both meetings upon request.
The noise mitigations that will be discussed during both meetings are nearly two years in the making and are expected to have a positive impact on our collective work to improve noise exposure for neighbors of both airports.
Once these meetings are completed, the next step in the process will be a public hearing slated for the first quarter of 2025 in which the Department of Airports and its consultants will provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the final documents. There will not be a Q&A element during the public hearing, however all public comments will be noted and included in the final documents that will be submitted to the FAA. |

The Ventura County Department of Airports owns and manages both Camarillo Airport and Oxnard Airport, offering vital connections to the national airspace system. Camarillo Airport, known for its full-service fixed-base operator and executive terminal, and Oxnard Airport, serving regional air traffic, play key roles in supporting the local economy and aviation community.
