Busy weekend in store for 805 region

Those in the 805 region looking to find something to do this weekend will have no shortage of events. From Oxnard to Santa Barbara, the event calendar is filling fast.

El Centrito annual celebration 

El Centrito Family Learning Centers will kick off activities this weekend with its third annual dinner dance, “Baile de Amor y Amistad,” beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Sugar Beets Restaurant and Grill, 455 So. A St., Oxnard.

The organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing educational support services in the Oxnard community.Music for the dinner dance will be provided by D.J. Carlos. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. They can be purchased at El Centrito, 450 So. K St., Oxnard or by calling 805.483.8685.

Promotores workshop

The Central Coast Regional Committee will present the workshop “A Promotor’s Personal Growth,” based on the teachings of “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Solvang Senior Citizen Center, 1745 Mission Drive, Solvang. Art Beat Second Saturday

The Oxnard Downtown Management District will present it’s Art Beat Second Saturday Downtown Oxnard celebration from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at various locations in downtown Oxnard.

Missionaries present dance gala

The Missionaries of the Holy Spirit Theology Students will present their annual “Cena Baile de Gala” (Dinner dance gala) from 6 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard. Music by Groupo Musical, X-Plosion Latina and Pepe Lozano and Jr., and DJ Festival. Tickets are $50. All funds raised benefit the missionary students. Andean music at UCSB

“An Evening of Andean Music with Quijeremá Al Son del Tunduki” will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at the UCSB Multicultural Center Theater.

Quijeremá is described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “A potent mix of Latin
