Our Thoughts and Prayers for Peace

It is hard for me to grapple with the extent of humanity’s darkness, personified by the recent acts of terror perpetrated by Hamas. These acts have left us grappling with the profound loss and suffering experienced by innocent people. In these challenging times, it is of great importance for our thoughts and prayers, and our solidarity, to go out to those who have tragically lost their loved ones in Israel and Gaza.

Construction Updates

Via Real Road Closure October 17-19

A section of Via Real near the Polo fields will be closed from October 17 to October 19. This closure is for the safety of residents and travelers during a project to remove a number of large Eucalyptus Trees. Detours will be posted routing traffic to Toro Canyon Rd. and Highway 192 (Foothill Rd.).

Road Cape Seal Project beginning Oct. 16

Over the next two weeks, our Public Works Roads crews will be conducting cape seal road surfacing projects across the 1st District. Crews will start in the Eastern Goleta Valley this week, and make their way to Montecito and Summerland next week. You can view a list of affected roads below, and contact my office for more information.

Montecito 101 and Roundabout Construction

Crews are grading, removing vegetation, and installing temporary safety barriers in the shoulder areas to prepare for upcoming freeway construction. Please expect night noise.

Landscaping has started at the Olive Mill Roundabout. At the San Ysidro Roundabout, please expect stop signs at each leg and flaggers directing traffic as needed as construction continues.

Summerland 101 and Bikeway Construction

Expect night noise for pavement grinding on the freeway.

At the Santa Claus Lane Bikeway, crews will install cable railing during the day. Please expect closures Mondays through Saturdays with the bikeway opening each evening and on Sundays. Mark your calendars for the upcoming Completion Event on November 8.
