SBCC seeks public input on redistricting for its Board of Trustees

The Santa Barbara City College District (SBCCD) Board of Trustees seeks the public’s input as it moves forward with a process to evaluate and adjust the boundaries of the seven trustee areas of the district, a process known as redistricting. Read the press releaseand visit the Redistricting webpage.

SBCC Trustees Extend Interim Superintendent Kindred Murillo’s Contract Until September 2023

SBCC’s interim superintendent/president, Kindred Murillo will be on the job until September 2023, now that the Board of Trustees extended her contract one year. The trustees approved the extension at their Jan. 20 meeting and amended some terms, including a change from a monthly housing allowance to a one-time $10,000 stipend for moving expenses.

Student Trustee Chernor Diallo

Chernor A. Diallo was elected student trustee in the Fall semester 2021. Born and raised in Monrovia, Liberia, Chernor lived in Israel for two years, where he finished high school at Givat Haviva International School. He is a Model United Nations delegate and Executive Director of the International Online Model United Nations-Liberia. Chernor is a first-generation college student studying Business Administration, and a part-time computer tutor at SBCC’s Learning Resource Center.

SBCC’s Atkinson Gallery to host ‘What is America?’ exhibition

The Atkinson Gallery is pleased to present “What is America?”, a group exhibition featuring three artists whose works explore concepts of American identity: Zoe Leonard, Glenn Ligon and Felix Gonzalez-Torres. The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 24, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. and the show will run Feb. 24-Apr. 1.

Spring 2022 Artist Talks

The Artist Talks series for Spring 2022 will feature presentations via Zoom by Kelly Akashi (Feb. 22), Keith Mayerson (Mar. 9) and Gabriella Sanchez (Apr. 20). Click for more information and to register.

The Theatre Group presents ‘Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express’

Ken Ludwig’s clever adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic boasts all the glamour, intrigue and suspense of Dame Agatha’s celebrated novel, with a healthy dose of humor to quicken the pace. Mar. 2-19, Garvin Theatre.
