 Dear Friend,Fall is here, and the change in season is evident all around. Leaves are falling, cooler breezes are swirling, daylight is shortening, all signs that change is in the air. Our address has changed too, with the opening of our new corporate office in San Luis Obispo. Keep that contact page for us open though, soon we’ll have another change of address, our new corporate office in Ventura County! Other changes this month see the start of construction of new apartments in Pismo Beach, and first-time home owners completing construction on their self-help houses in King City.
Over our first fifty years, we have accomplished much toward addressing the housing crisis along the Central Coast. However, as affordability gaps have grown, so necessarily has our organization to meet these greater and deeper needs. The key to accomplishing our mission is turned by our growing number of talented team members. Our new offices reflect a long-term investment in providing them the place and space to collaboratively make it all happen, and, being located near other impactful nonprofit neighbors, these new facilities were also planned in support of their missions.
We are ever-evolving to meet 21st century housing needs. We are dynamic, we are listening, and responding to the highest priorities and felt needs in each jurisdiction we serve. We are looking outside our immediate community, across our national networks for lessons learned elsewhere, for relevant tools and solutions to bring here locally. Working collaboratively is increasingly important for us meaning more and new commitments to support initiatives wider than our own. Partnering with housing authorities, housing trust funds and homeless services providers will be to the benefit of the whole community and we will continue to invest ourselves further with those whose missions and values align with ours.
Thank you for investing in us as we take our mission to the next level of growth, and take longer strides to being an even better employer, developer, service provider, and community partner.

 Full Bloom
For the first time ever, students at our Dahlia Court Learning Center have planted their own raised beds through a new partnership with the Carpinteria Community Garden. Each week, retired volunteer educators have been teaching students chemistry, biology, ecology, meteorology, and math as they relate to gardening. Once the fruit and vegetables have grown, students will receive cooking lessons with the produce from their new garden!
To encourage more outdoor activities and healthy living for students, the Camino Scholars program continues to build new community partnerships at their Learning Centers. |

Do you know a farmworker who needs housing?
Guadalupe Court, affordable housing for farmworker families in the City of Guadalupe, is accepting applications for 1, 2, and 3-bedroom units! Onsite facilities include an outdoor courtyard, playground, barbeque area, community center, and computer lab. Residents also have access to free supportive services and education programs, which include after-school tutoring and college prep.
