The Pacific View Mall on Wednesday, June 29 will host the first installment of the “Can Film Festival,” a ten-event series of free family movie nights to benefit FOOD Share, Ventura County’s regional food bank.
The screenings will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday nights through Aug. 31 in the Pacific View Mall’s food court. Although there is no cost to attend, movie-goers are encouraged to bring canned food and cash donations for FOOD Share in exchange for a night of free family fun.
“The Can Film Festival is a great way to involve families in FOOD Share’s mission to feed Ventura County’s growing population of hungry friends and neighbors,” Bonnie Weigel, CEO of FOOD Share, stated in a media release. “We hope that parents will explain to their kids that there are children who go to bed hungry each night and that they can help by becoming a part of the hunger solution. Just like watching a movie together, sharing food with those in need can be a family affair.”
