Port Lands $1.68M Grant for State-of-the-Art Technology
FEMA announced that the Port of Hueneme has been awarded $1.68 million in the Port Security Grant Program. Aimed to achieve the goal of a secure and resilient nation, the funding will aid the Port in modernizing their security, including improvements to the main gate entrance, and upgrading the Port’s CCTV surveillance system with cutting-edge technology.

#PortModernization is now! As part of the Port’s commitment to environment, Port’s Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of the first two zero-emission heavy duty Port trucks in Ventura County! These US-made Kalmar battery-powered trucks will help move containers of fresh produce around the Port while producing zero pollution. The trucks are part of a project in conjunction with the Port of Los Angeles funded by the California Air Resources Board. Read more about the ZANZEFF Grant here.

The Port of Hueneme is one of the most productive and efficient commercial trade gateways for niche cargo on the West Coast. The Port is governed by five locally elected Port Commissioners. The Port moves $9.5 billion in goods each year and consistently ranks among the top ten U.S. ports for automobiles and fresh produce. Port operations support the community by bringing $1.7 billion in economic activity and creating 15,834 trade-related jobs. Trade through the Port of Hueneme generates more than $119 million in direct and related state and local taxes, which fund vital community services. In 2017, the Port of Hueneme became the first port in California to become Green Marine certified.
