Oxnard College welcomes Dr. David G. Garcia in this special presentation of his new book, Strategies of Segregation: Race, Residence, and the Struggle for Educational Equality (UC Press, 2018). An alumnus of Oxnard College, Dr. Garcia is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education at UCLA. His book examines a history of designs for racially separate and unequal schooling for Mexican American and Black students here in Oxnard. Dr. Garcia highlights interviews of community members and former students who endured and challenged segregation.
