Three Ferguson Case Orr Paterson Attorneys Named as ‘Rising Stars’

VENTURA Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP, Ventura County’s largest law firm, is pleased to announce partners Corey Donaldson and Joshua Hopstone and associate Jessica Wan have been named to this year’s Rising Stars list of Super Lawyers. This is a repeat honor for all three attorneys. The 2019 Rising Stars list includes fewer than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the Southern California Region who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been in practice for 10 years or less.

Donaldson joined FCOP as partner in 2018, bringing extensive experience in patent prosecution, as well as design, trademark and trade dress procurement and enforcement. He also works in international intellectual property procurement and litigation. Prior to joining FCOP, Donaldson was an attorney at Koppel Patrick Heybl and Philpott in Westlake Village for more than six years, joining the firm’s partnership in 2017. He holds a law degree from the UCLA School of Law and recently completed his master’s degree in electronic materials engineering from the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science. Donaldson holds a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Arizona State University.

Hopstone’s practice focuses on issues affecting real property. He is also a respected appellate advocate, having successfully argued cases before various state and federal appellate courts, including the California Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Hopstone joined FCOP in 2010 and was elevated to partner in Jan. 2018. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Ventura County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association and the Chamber of Commerce, and regularly volunteers his time pro bono at Ventura County Legal Aid. Hopstone earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2010 and is also a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and law and society.

Wan’s practice focuses primarily on complex civil and commercial litigation, appeals and employment matters. She is admitted to practice in the States of California and Hawaii as well as the Federal District Court for the District of Hawaii, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to joining FCOP, she practiced for three years at one of the largest law firms in Honolulu. Wan earned her Juris Doctor summa cum laude from the William S. Richardson School of Law and graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. During law school, Wan worked as a volunteer for the Hawaii State Judiciary’s chief family fudge and externed with the chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.
