Registration Now Open for Students and Mentors
CAMARILLO — Middle and high school girls from throughout Ventura County will participate in a two-day computer coding event presented by the Ventura County Office of Education on June 21 and 22 in Camarillo. The mission of the second annual Hackathon by the Sea – Girls Edition is to provide a positive environment for girls to use technology. At the event, students will team up to code projects such as games, apps and websites. Students will be guided by professional mentors and projects will be demonstrated and judged at the end of the event. The Hackathon is a fun and engaging way to expose students to the world of computer coding and the many career opportunities available in the field.

The Hackathon is open to all female Ventura County students in grades 7–12. No prior coding experience is required and laptop computers will be provided to participants who need them. The event is free, but only 100 spots are available, so interested students should register now by clicking here. Media coverage of the Hackathon is welcome.
Volunteer Mentors Needed: A team of volunteer mentors is needed to provide support and guidance to the student participants. Technology professionals and college students are encouraged to apply to be mentors by clicking here.
