SANTA BARBARA — This Memorial Day, the Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation (PCVF) will honor and remember those who made the greatest sacrifice for our country with a special ceremony at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. The event will include a patriotic program featuring the Santa Barbara Choral Society, bagpipers, and a special guest appearance by Sgt. Major John L. Canley, USMC, ret., the most recent recipient of the Medal of Honor.
“Memorial Day is always one of our biggest events of the year,” said PCVF co-founder John Blankenship. “It means the world to the families who have lost a loved one to see the community rally together to show their support and say thank you to those who gave their lives defending our nation. We invite you to join us for a truly memorable and meaningful morning.”
Seating areas and free parking will be provided.
Later that day, PCVF will also host a fundraising luncheon in support of local veterans, active duty personnel, and their families in times of need. This year, PCVF is making a dedicated push to house homeless veterans in the community, and a portion of the proceeds from the luncheon will be used to support of those efforts.
