SANTA BARBARA — Every year, over 1,000 high school students register for classes at SBCC during the summer and take classes to meet high school and college requirements under SBCC’s Dual Enrollment Program. Registration is now open for two summer sessions:

Summer session 1: May 20-June 28, 2019
Summer session 2: June 29-Aug 9, 2019

Through partnerships with local K-12 districts, students eligible for high school have the opportunity to begin their college careers while paying no tuition for college classes. High school students can earn college AND high school credits at the same time when they take classes at SBCC, take SBCC classes at the high school or take SBCC classes online.

As the first point of entry to post-secondary education at SBCC, dual enrollment eases the transition to college so high school students can experience empowering, encouraging and transformative experiences. This is a vital service for Santa Barbara students, as early college opportunities increase high school completion rates and college/career success, provide equitable access to college for underrepresented students and make college more affordable for diverse groups of students.

The college also runs a summer bridge program for over 150 students in partnership with the “Program for Effective Access to College” through the Santa Barbara Unified School District.
