Women Create (Ages 16+)
Tuesday, January 8, 2019, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
During our January 8 Women Create class, we’ll employ the dreamy and elegant painting Spring by Frances MacDonald (1873-1921) as our muse. Using watercolor paints and tracing paper, we will delve into the elegant shapes and patterns of Art Nouveau, and reflect on beauty, grace, and creativity. Women Create is an ongoing series exclusively for women featuring a new art project, muse, and discussion each month. All skill levels are welcome. Pre-registration is required. The cost of this class is $35.00 per person.

From the Great Wall of China, to the walling off of highway traffic noises, to understanding the concepts of phrases like “a fly on the wall,” Santa Barbara arts curator and consultant Lynn Holley will take you through the complexities and nature of the word “walls” through its history up to contemporary times. Admission to the talk is included with regular museum admission which is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, and free for students and members.

Join paper specialist Gail Hercher and indulge in the joy of hand-crafted, personal books. This class will focus on the Japanese Binding technique, with endless potential for personalization and artistic variations – from small, personal books to large format wall art! Each student will leave with at least one personalized, Japanese Binding book. All skill levels are welcome. Pre-registration is required. The cost of this class is $40.00 per person.
