Bilingual report: Oct. 13 — VCCCD Hosts Districtwide Financial Aid Workshops at Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura Colleges

Cash for College workshops will be held to help ensure students complete the right paperwork and applications to receive money for college.

CAMARILLO — Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura colleges will each host Cash for Collegeworkshops on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Moorpark College (7075 Campus Road, Moorpark, CA); Oxnard College (4000 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard, CA); and Ventura College (4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura, CA). Current and future students are invited to attend and meet with financial aid and counseling professionals. The events are free, open to the public, and provide students information on maximizing educational funds.

Ventura College East Campus/Santa Paula will be holding the same Cash for College event on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ventura College East Campus location in the city of Santa Paula (957 Faulkner Road, Unit 106).

“The three colleges coordinate these events together so that our entire community can access the important resources. This is about making the most of every opportunity,” said Kim Korinke, financial aid officer at Moorpark College.

The Cash for College events provide Ventura County residents an opportunity to complete their financial aid applications for the 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act application. Board of Trustees Chair Art Hernández shares, “It is important for our community to understand how to access the resources available at our colleges. Cash for College workshops are about providing the community with information on how to fund your college path and ensure both educational and financial success.”

We encourage dependent students and a parent to attend this event to ensure the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act application is completed accurately  in order to access the most federal and state funds,” said Linda Fa’asua, Oxnard College financial aid officer. “These workshops are the best place to be to understand changes in the financial aid process,” added Alma Rodriguez, financial aid officer at Ventura College.
