Museum of Ventura County update for Nov. 3 — First Friday Features The Night of the Nosferatu

Grab lunch and head over to the Museum, every Thursday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., for music and free entry to the galleries. Enjoy your lunch break in one of our colorful patio chairs while you listen to local musicians, then take a stroll through the museum’s rotating exhibits.

The Museum of Ventura County and the City of Ventura will host the 4th Annual ArtWalk Collectors Reception for the 2018 ArtWalk Ventura,
6 to 8 p.m., October 4, in the Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion at the Museum.
The ArtWalk Collectors Reception is a preview of juried works by 2018 ArtWalk featured artists and provides attendees the opportunity to reserve works for purchase in advance of the ArtWalk. The event will begin with Ventura Deputy Mayor Matt LaVere honoring the 2018 Artist of Distinction John White and the 2018 Global Artist of Distinction Song Byeok. The event will include music, hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar. This event is free to attend.
The Museum of Ventura County will host a First Friday event, 6–8 p.m., October 5, celebrating the opening of The Night of the Nosferatu, an exhibit of George Stuart Historical Figures® not seen by the public in nearly forty years, that tells the fictional story about the bloodline of the original vampire, Count Dracula. Evening entertainment includes music by DJ Darko, refreshments by Desserts to Die For and a no-host bar. Admission is free for members, $5 non-members.
The Night of the Nosferatu exhibit features figures originally created for a staged performance by the artist in 1979. Internationally renowned for their exquisite detail and historical accuracy, George Stuart Historical Figures® have been exhibited at the Museum of Ventura County, the Smithsonian Institution, the Bill Clinton Presidential Library, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, the Ojai Valley Museum, The Mini-Time Machine: A Museum of Miniatures and in private collections.
The Museum of Ventura County will be open Saturday October 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday October 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conjunction with the 2018 ArtWalk Ventura. TheJoe Cardella and ARTLIFE Magazine exhibit in the Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion will be free and open to the public. The Musuem’s galleries will be open to the public for regular admission prices.
Visitors can get a look at the installation process for a new installation artwork by artist Minga Opazo. The Chilean born LA based artist works with fiber to weave large installations and is currently installing a piece that incorporates the Museum’s gates and water fountain. On Sunday October 7, join Minga as she leads a free weaving workshop from noon to 2 pm.

Explore the life cycle of the pumpkin and learn about the different varieties, sizes, shapes, and colors atFree First Sunday at the Agriculture Museum. Come and create your own string art pumpkin at the free workshop. Sponsored by Museum donor Mimi Allin and TOLD Corporation. While Free First Sunday offers free admission at both the Ventura and Santa Paula museum locations, the free art activities will take place only at the Agriculture Museum location, 926 Railroad Avenue, Santa Paula.
