VENTURA COUNTY — PODS containers will once again serve as mini art galleries that will transform the streets for ArtWalk Ventura’s 25th anniversary. On Saturday, Oct. 6, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. & Sunday, Oct. 7 noon – 5 p.m., the donation of 16 PODS containers will connect local artists and galleries for attendees to engage and interact along Downtown and Ventura’s Westside Cultural District.
The PODS containers, which are used by many artists at events like Downtown LA’s Little Tokyo Design Week and the Woodlands Waterway Art Festival, have reimagined the way ArtWalk Ventura has engaged the public’s appreciation for art.
“A PODS container is the perfect pop up gallery space for artists to display their masterpieces and educate the public on the importance of art,” explained Steve Yapp, owner of local PODS moving and storage. “We have always been passionate about supporting our local community and supporting the arts, so we enjoy helping this event grow every year.”
A signature event run by an all-volunteer group, ArtWalk Ventura is a virtually free, self-guided tour of dozens of galleries, studios, pop-up venues and transformed PODS containers that has brought in a variety of cultural tourists from all over the world.
ARTWALK VENTURA 2018 ARTIST OF DISTINCTION:
John M. White of Ventura is a painter, sculptor and performance artist. He has been exhibiting publicly for more than 40 years. Culturally, politically and aesthetically influenced by the late ’60s, White’s work exemplifies this period of redefinition and experimentation.
