Sept. 15 — Spirals Foundation for gymnastics celebrates National Gymnastics Day

SANTA BARBARA — Head coach Derek May announced today that Spirals Gymnastics on the campus of UCSB will join gymnastics clubs across the world on Sept. 15 to share the love of our sport and support our gymnastics community on National Gymnastics Day.

As part of this year’s National Gymnastics Day on Sept. 15, gymnasts, families, friends, and enthusiasts from gymnastics clubs globally will participate in a variety of activities. These include: open houses, hand stand contests, carnivals, and fitness activities to build awareness of gymnastics and its benefits.

Many clubs will use this as a means to extend opportunities to children who do not normally have the resources or access to participate in the sport, while clubs are also given the opportunity to share information about the programs offered at their gym.

Spirals gymnastics will be open to the public on Saturday Sept. 15th from 12-3pm
Spirals gymnastics has been providing physical activity to local students for over 25 years. Gymnastics provides a vehicle to young children to learn discipline, team work, problem solving, following directions and all types of motor coordination. Gymnastics is known to be the ultimate foundation for ALL sports.

Annually, USA Gymnastics and clubs nationwide participate in National Gymnastics Day to raise awareness of the sport and help others. We love our sport, we believe in our community and together we are working to create a culture of empowerment for gymnasts and families around the world.
