Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County welcomes new board of directors at annual board retreat

VENTURA COUNTY — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County (BBSVC) is excited to announce that it will hold its annual Board Retreat at the beautiful Sherwood Lake Club for on Saturday, July 28, 2018. The Sherwood Lake Club has been a long-time supporter of BBSVC, and is graciously opening its doors to host the organization’s annual, day-long meeting of Board Directors. This year’s retreat will focus on exciting new developments for Big Brothers Big Sisters, including an upcoming new look for the organization, an emphasis on providing trauma-informed services, and setting big goals for volunteer recruitment.

“The number of youth who seek our one-to-one mentoring services is always growing, and so we are always looking for community role models who are interested in becoming mentors for these children,” says BBSVC CEO, Lynne West. “Our Board Retreat makes sure to focus on this need and how it changes every year, so that we can not only find the best mentor for each child, but also provide the best possible ongoing support for our matches.”

BBSVC looks forward to continuing to lead youth mentoring programs across Ventura County under its Executive Board leadership, and continuing to strengthen the foundations built by those who have served the agency for many years.

BBSVC also welcomes five new board members, who will be attending the Board Retreat for the first time:

  • Jesus Garcia, AVP of Member Experience at CBC Federal Credit Union.
  • Adam Hammer, First Vice President & Senior Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch.
  • Steven Nason, Chief Executive Officer at Hygiena.
  • Nathan Sobel, Realtor at Rodeo Realty, Inc.
  • Brian Ternan, President of Commercial Business at Anthem Blue Cross of CA
