SANTA BARBARA — This summer, professionals and job seekers alike can make quick work of positioning themselves for career success, even while juggling work, life, and vacation. SBCC Career Skills Institute is tuition-free and will deliver the most robust, summer course offerings in its history, including offering students the opportunity to earn the most popular digital badges among students and employers. Registration opens April 20 with 50 individual courses and workshops to choose from throughout the summer, or students can take multiple courses to earn digital badges in June, July and August.

“A badge can be earned in as quickly as three one-day classes, allowing you to advance your career skills in a short timeframe,” said Jeanette Chian, Associate Director, School of Extended Learning. “These courses cover the skills employers are looking for and are ideal for anyone looking to enter, re-enter or upskill within today’s competitive job market.”

Career Skills Institute offers tuition-free courses in accounting, computer skills, customer relations, and much more, that can be taken independently or sequenced to earn specialized certificates in more than 30 areas. Certificates earned at the Career Skills Institute include digital badges that can be posted in online profiles such as LinkedIn, websites and resumes, to easily showcase competitive skills to employers. Best of all, daytime, evening, and weekend classes mean that we have classes to fit your schedule.

The Customer Relations badge, one of Career Skills Institute’s all-time most popular, will be offered twice this summer and can be earned by taking the three one-day courses within the badge; and the Accounting Basics badge will be offered in an accelerated format, allowing it to be achieved in a single six-week summer session for the first time. Students can also earn a Basic Office Software Skills badge, the most commonly issued badge to advance and prepare individuals for office jobs. New this year, the Career Strategist badge provides students with the skills needed to gain an accurate understanding of their strengths, interests, abilities and work values.
