March 28 — PR Meeting to Feature Social Media Strategy and Digital Storytelling

CENTRAL COAST — The California Gold Coast Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will present “Social Media Strategy and Digital Storytelling” featuring guest speaker Michelle Rogers, consumer experience director for the Ventura County Star. The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Ventura County Star (550 Camarillo Center Drive). Cost ranges from $10 to $30 and includes a light breakfast. Rogers will discuss the Star’s social media strategy, use of Facebook groups to engage the community as well as new product development and the newsroom’s events strategy to reach new audiences. She’ll also talk about reporters’ use of digital storytelling tools and the role of analytics in making strategic decisions around content.

Rogers oversees the Star’s programming, production, packaging and promotion of newsroom content, including product development and events. Under her watch, the Star has launched two podcasts and the Ventura Storytellers Project, a program in which local residents are coached by journalists and editors to share true, first-person stories on stage.
