SANTA BARBARA — The TheraMind Center of Santa Barbara is pleased to announce their team of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) technicians. TMS is a non-invasive, safe and effective treatment option for people suffering from drug-resistant depression. It has also been used to treat several other conditions, including Anxiety Disorder, Perinatal and Postpartum Depression (PPD), Eating Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), pain management (including Fibromyalgia), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tinnitus, Bipolar Disorder, and other mood disorders.
Branon Eusebio is a certified TMS and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) technician. He graduated from Westmont College with a degree in behavioral neuroscience. During his time at Westmont, he completed a senior research experiment titled “Social Support as a Potential Buffer Against Stress-Induced Cognitive Deficiencies” and served several different clinical internships and a position in student government. Over the summer of 2015, Branon served at an orphanage for children with physical and mental disabilities in rural northern China. His experiences with a variety of patient populations propelled him enthusiastically toward neuroscience and the clinical helping professions.
Taryn Phipps is a certified TMS and HBOT technician, and graduated from Westmont College with a B.A. in Psychology. While at Westmont, Taryn had the opportunity to compete in eight national championships for the track and field team, travel to 14 countries, and study abroad in Europe. She also interned at the Center for Developmental Play and Learning in Santa Barbara, sparked by her passion for Autism and children’s developmental needs. Currently, she volunteers with Capernaum, a branch of Young Life for individuals with special needs, and is inspired by the people she has witnessed overcome mental illness, disabilities, and other challenges.
Alex Van Valen is a certified TMS and HBOT technician, and earned a B.A. in Psychology and Minor in Philosophy from Westmont College. While in school, he participated in the College Choir and in an abroad program focused on conflict resolution with extended stays in London, Berlin, and Rostrevor, Northern Ireland. Alex has experience being an assistant to a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), a support worker, and a counselor at Sanctuary Psychiatric Center of Santa Barbara. He has always had an affinity for working with people, and is passionate about musical performance, travel, hiking, fitness, writing, and philosophical discourse. He would like to further his education in psychology or philosophy and is excited to develop ideas to make treatment more fun, effective, and engaging for clients.
Julie Hart is a certified TMS and HBOT technician, and has a B.S. in Biomedical Science majoring in Pathology. She previously worked at CSULB research laboratory as a technician. Currently, Julie is working on her associate degree in Health Information Technology. In her spare time, she likes to read and work in her garden.
Céline Parris is a certified TMS technician, and began working at TheraMind as an intern her senior year while attending Westmont College. She has since graduated with a B.A. in Psychology, and is now a certified TMS technician. Fueled by her passion for helping others, she visits Haiti annually with a local physician to offer free medical clinics to those with little or no accessibility. Céline divides her time between her work at the TheraMind Center and as a Realtor for her family’s local real estate firm. On a day off, she can be found reading or enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
