March 9 — “The World’s Youngest Solo Musician to Headline His Own Concert Tour” Comes to Oxnard

OXNARD — Recognized by the Guinness World Records as “The World’s Youngest Solo Musician to Headline His Own Concert Tour,” teen prodigy pianist, singer and composer Ethan Bortnick has been performing around the world and opening for greats such as Elton John, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Reba McEntire, and many more. He performs at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 9th at 8 PM with a children’s choir featuring 100 local youth from O’ My Theater and the Oxnard Boys and Girls Club.

When he was just three years old, Ethan asked his parents for piano lessons and discovered an uncanny ability to hear a song once and play it back note for note – the musical equivalent of a photographic memory. He soaked up the music of such diverse artists and composers as Beethoven, Mozart, jazz pianist Bill Evans, Little Richard, and Billy Joel, and began creating original compositions at age five. Around this time, his younger brother had three heart surgeries and that emotional upheaval inspired him to use his musical talents to benefit charity. To date, Ethan has helped raise over $50,000,000 for nonprofits around the world.

Within a few short years, Ethan began touring the globe and making television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America and Oprah, where he was named one of Oprah’s All Time Smartest, Most Talented Kids. His highly successful nationally televised TV show, The Power of Music, continues to be one of the most popular concert pledge programs on Public Television.

On March 9th at The PACC, Ethan will present a night of music that appeals to people of all ages: from The Beatles to Elton John to Broadway, from Chopin to Neil Diamond, from Michael Jackson to Motown to rock ‘n roll, works by great classical composers and everything in between. Violin prodigy, Assia Ahhatt, will be the evening’s special guest.

The event is sponsored by Rabobank and KCET.
