VENTURA — OceanForesters has requested that a chapter be added on ocean to the Ventura County General Plan.
The General Plan has not been updated in 30 years. The plan update would include the year 2040. County’s website explains, “A general plan represents the community’s view of its future and expresses the community’s development goals. The planning horizon for a general plan typically ranges from 15 to 25 years. The County’s General Plan will have a planning horizon of 20 years. California State law requires that each city and county adopt a general plan.” Board of Supervisors work session information is available at:
OceanForesters has been working on keeping the ocean healthy for generations to come. The group has been awarded a federal grant along with a few others to help explore and contribute to the well-being of our ocean. Mohammed A. Hasan, a co-founder of OceanForesters said, “If we take good care of our ocean, 70% of the planet surface will be in good shape. Healthy ocean can help solve food and energy problems among many other benefits”.
On behalf of OceanForesters, Hasan is planning on submitting the following two pages at the meeting at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, January 23.
