Jan. 24 — ‘Toying with Science Show: Free and Open to the Public at Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center

OXNARD — As part of its renewed effort to present dynamic public programming to the Greater Oxnard area, the Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center (The PACC) is pleased to host Garry Krinsky and his “Toying with Science” performance with two FREE shows on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

It has been said that GARRY KRINSKY resembles a living cartoon with his animated movement and non-stop energy. Since its creation in 1995, Garry Krinsky’s acclaimed Toying with Science program has toured across the U.S. and Canada to rave reviews. Toying with Science, first commissioned by the Museum of Science in Boston, has been performed at the Kennedy Center of Washington DC, Victoria Theatre of Dayton, Civic Center of Greater Des Moines, Kravis Center, Broward Center, and Ruth Eckerd Hall in Florida, the Broadway Center and Everett Theater in Washington, the Markham Theatre in Ontario, and other theaters and festivals across the United States. Garry has also had appearances on NBC’s Today Show and for Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors.

Toying with Science is a fast-paced, varied and dynamic program. It combines circus skills, mime, original music, and audience involvement in the exploration of the scientific principles of gravity, leverage, fulcrums, and simple machines. Garry and his audience investigate basic scientific information and delve into the imaginations of scientists who have played important roles in the exploration and discovery of concepts that define our world. Garry brings a number of science-based toys to life with motion, music, humor and insight. He grants audience members a chance at stardom by inviting a few to join him on stage and participate in juggling or balancing activities with his playful guidance. His original, upbeat songs offer additional information on fulcrums, levers and basic mechanics. He impresses upon his audience the idea that by mastering simple scientific concepts, one can produce terrific results. For example, the ability to find the center of gravity is demonstrated when he balances multiple ladders, topped with a giant beach umbrella on his chin at the same time! As personable as he is professional, Garry consistently dissolves the boundary between himself and the audience, making for a truly unique experience.
