Jan. 27 — Poetry Reading to Complement Art at the Santa Paula Art Museum

SANTA PAULA — On Saturday, January 27, 2018, Ventura County Poet Laureate Phil Taggart will host a poetry reading at the Santa Paula Art Museum. The performance will feature two dozen local poets whose original poems will explore the theme of the Museum’s current Art About Agriculture exhibition. Art About Agriculture is composed of art by 70 different artists. Their works portray the beauty and bounty of agriculture in scenes ranging from fields, farmworkers and farmers markets to animals, barns and backroad vistas. The poetry reading begins at 2:00 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

Poets reading at the event will include, Chris Buckley, Ann Buxie, Nina Clements, Jean Colonomos, Corrine Contreras, Marsha de la O, Edwin Donegal, Henry Graumlich, Glenna Luschei, Mary Ann McFadden, Anita McLaughlin, Ricardo Means, Nancy-Jean Pément, Claudia Reder, Zayan Reza, Mary Kay Rummel, Becky Sanvictores, Dian Sousa, David Starkey, Phil Taggart, Amy Uyematsu, John White, Bruce Willard, George Yatchisn and Chryss Yost. Guests of the event will also be able to tour the Art About Agriculture exhibition.

The Santa Paula Art Museum, Jeanette Cole Art Center is located at 117 North 10th Street in historic downtown Santa Paula. The Museum features rotating exhibitions of vintage and contemporary art, educational programming for children and adults, artist talks and demonstrations, a gift shop and more.
