29TH ANNUAL SENIOR EXPO TO DRAW 1,000 SENIORS AND CAREGIVERS
Free Health Screenings, Raffle & Door Prizes, 120 Exhibits
SANTA BARBARA — Seniors and caregivers looking for one central place to get information about products and services pertaining to their needs will find it all in our area’s largest active aging fair, Senior Expo of Santa Barbara, Wednesday October 4, 2017 from 9 a.m. to noon at Earl Warren Showgrounds. In its 29th year, the Senior Expo expects to draw over 1,000 seniors, family members and caregivers—all seeking ways to keep seniors healthy, active and involved in our community.
Cost of admission is $5 which includes a flu shot for those 55 and older, plus $275 in free health screenings and vital services that many may not otherwise be able to access. Attendees have the opportunity to get answers to their questions about everything from financial and insurance services to housing, home care, healthcare, activities geared to seniors, and volunteer opportunities. There’s something for everyone! For a complete list of activities, visit SeniorExpoSB.com or call (855) 247-9355.
Even prior Expo attendees will find something new this year. Additions for 2017 include free raffle and door prizes, onsite voter registration and polling demonstrations, personal computer coaching, all-stage fitness workshops, and a Caregivers’ Café—a relaxing place for caregivers to receive support and information.
“It is important for people to get information before they face a challenge, or worse, a crisis,” says Cynthia McNulty, LCSW, Senior Service Program Manager at Family Service Agency. “Senior Expo is a convenient and fun way to gather information about all our great community resources. Information about what it means to live actively at all ages can be very empowering.”
McNulty adds, “This year, we look forward to supporting healthy aging as well as celebrating the important role of the caregiver by promoting support services for families.”
Senior Expo is made possible through sponsorship of local businesses and nonprofit agencies. The 2017 Platinum-level sponsors include Family Service Agency, Sansum Clinic, Cottage Health, and Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care. Gold-level sponsors are Sharon Kennedy Estate Management and Stevens & Associates Insurance; and Silver-level sponsors are Anacapa Estate Planning & Elder Law, Home Care Assistance, Hospice of Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara County Adult & Aging Network.
