SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) co-hosted a Military Expo and Job Fair with the Ventura County Military Collaborative on Aug. 26. This was the sixth consecutive year the expo was held and the first that our office hosted the job fair portion.
“As Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee, I understand the challenges our military personnel face when transitioning back into civilian life,” said Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. “My office was honored to work with the Ventura County Military Collaborative to ensure our veterans have the resources they need to help find employment.”
Since 2011, the Camarillo Community Center has been home to the Military Expo bringing local active duty military personnel, veterans, and their families the benefits available to them. Services included VA Benefits, healthcare, counseling and legal assistance. This year an expanded Job Fair was added to the Expo.
The job fair hosted over 35 employers that were looking to hire military personnel transitioning into civilian life and veterans. Some of the companies who attended included: Sempra Energy, Frontier, Hass Automation, Ventura County Sheriffs, and Oxnard Police Department, among others.
“The Ventura County Military Collaborative is honored and pleased to have tremendous support for our Military Expo and Job Fair from Assemblymember Irwin,” said Kim Evans Executive Director of the Ventura County Military Collaborative. “We’re especially thankful for the phenomenal work that her office provided for the job fair.”
