VENTURA — Ventura County Poet Laureate, Phil Taggart, will perform readings from the works of writer Charles Bukowski, at a special showing of “Born Into This,” the documentary chronicling the life of Bukowski.

The reading begins at 6:30, with screening to follow. Influenced by the social, cultural and economic impact of the ‘60s, Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and over 60 books addressing the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women and the drudgery of work. The FBI kept a file on him as a result of his column, Notes of a Dirty Old Man, in the LA underground newspaper Open City.

Admission is free to members, $5/non-members. No-host bar available.
