Young Leaders Society presenting Prom Dress Project

The Young Leaders Society has officially launched the annual Prom Dress Project, a prom dress recycling program for underprivileged students.

The deadline to drop off prom dresses is Feb. 27, reported the Young Leaders Society, a program of the United Way of Ventura County.

This is a unique opportunity to help those less fortunate by mobilizing the caring power of our communities, the organization reported in a media release. Individuals interested in helping can simply donate and drop-off their used prom dresses at any Four Seasons Cleaners in Oxnard and Ventura or at the United Way of Ventura County Office in Camarillo.

“The Prom Dress Project has really taken on a life of its own and we owe a debt of thanks to the hundreds of generous individuals who have looked in their closets and donated their used dresses for others to enjoy,” said Nancy Rodriguez, a member of the YLS Board of Directors. “Sonny Shah of the Four Seasons Cleaners is providing free dry cleaning services for these donated dress and we can’t thank him enough for his generous support.”

Please help promote this opportunity through your network so that together, we may create a precious moment for these high school seniors who might not otherwise afford to go to prom, the organization reported. Last year alone, 300 dresses were collected and distributed to girls throughout Ventura County. Dress selection will be available for participants during March and April at various locations countywide.
