OXNARD — Two Festival stages will be “jamming” at the 34th Annual California Strawberry Festival May 20 and 21 in Oxnard where non-stop entertainment adds to the sweet celebration that pays tribute to the beloved seasonal fruit.
Musical styles range from Country, Latin Pop, Reggae, Alternative Rock, and R & B, to Ska, featuring “Dirty Rice,” “The Untouchables,” “Missing Persons,” and DJ Travis Holcombe. An assortment of tribute bands highlight U2, Katy Perry, Selena, and others.
With the newly expanded Festival layout the stages will be located on soccer fields where fans can “chillax” on the grass and enjoy the tunes while accessing a variety of interactive booths and attractions.
When attendees need a break from dancing, they can visit a variety of 50 food booths serving up a sweet palate of berry treats like strawberry funnel cake, strawberry pizza, deep fried strawberries, strawberry shortcake, chocolate dipped strawberries and even strawberry beer. Sales proceeds benefit 20+ local charities.
Held at the now 50 percent larger Strawberry Meadows of College Park (3250 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard), festival hours are 10:00am to 6:30 p.m. Admission prices range from $5 to $12, with kids 4 and under free.
