Feb. 25 — Social Justice Fund for Ventura County presenting free workshop — ‘Hidden Prejudice: Barriers to Success in Education’

CAMARILLO — The Social Justice Fund for Ventura County will present the free workshop — “Hidden Prejudice: Barriers to Success in Education” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Ventura County Community Foundation, 4001 Mission Oaks Blvd., Camarillo.

In 2017 the Social Justice Funding will focus on bias in education. We will identify and fund projects focused on ending racial discrimination and bullying in our schools. However, we must begin by educating ourselves and the community.

Join us as we seek to answer questions like:

  • Where do our unconscious prejudices come from?
  • How do these gut level fears and stereotypes affect teachers, students, and whole communities?
  • What can we do to move beyond bias and insure equitable access to educational resources?

Please plan to join us for this stimulating discussion and call to action.
