¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! will present Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano in free family concerts in Goleta, Gudalupe, Santa Barbara and Isla Vista. The Grammy-winning ensemble performs music from latest recording, Tradición, Arte y Pasión, as well as songs of the Mexican Revolution. Much more than entertainment, mariachi music is a celebration of identity, artistry and ritual, event organizers reported in a media release. Founded in 1961, Los Camperos de Nati Cano is noted for rich musical arrangements that highlight the skills and voices of the individual players. The ensemble employs the musicians from Mexico and the United States and has performed for audiences worldwide. Nati Cano began performing at an early age, and was an integral player in the glory days of mariachi in the 1930’s and 40’s, when the music was becoming popular beyond its roots in western Mexico, and modern Mexican cultural identity was taking shape. Nati Cano passed away in October 2014. Los Camperos will perform free family shows at at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 at Isla Vista School, 6875 El Colegio Road, Goleta (805-893-5037); at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9 at Guadalupe City Hall, 918 Obispo St., Guadalupe, Information (805-343-2455); at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Marjorie Luke Theatre, 721 E.
