Ventura County Community Development Corp. March 2022 Newsletter

March 2022
Highlights & Updates
In March we celebrate Women’s History Month! VCCDC is a woman-led non-profit organization with a majority female workforce. Not only are we run by a group of amazing women, but we also serve amazing women in our community. In fact, 70% of those who take that bold first step in reaching out to VCCDC to achieve the dream of homeownership are female. This month we especially celebrate the women who have contributed to VCCDC’s success including our board, staff, clients, partners, and community members!
PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
We are grateful for our generous partners who are committed to investing in the communities we serve. Thanks to their support we can ensure that VCCDC continues assisting local individuals and families to find a place to call home.
VCCDC has been awarded $94,683 in funding through the Housing Stability Counseling Program (HSCP) administered by NeighborWorks America. This grant is part of the more than $88 million in funding awarded to131 organizations to address foreclosure and eviction prevention counseling efforts in communities throughout the nation and made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The HSC Program aims to help eligible nonprofits and agencies provide direct housing counseling services to individuals and families facing housing instability, such as eviction, foreclosure and homelessness. This funding comes at a critical time for many Americans with the loss of recent eviction protections and moratoria that have expired or are expiring. The focus of this grants allows VCCDC to provide individual counseling for families at the risk of foreclosure in both Ventura and Kern Counties.
CELEBRATING OUR 2021 ACHIEVEMENTS
As we began our 20th year in business, 2021 was challenging in more ways than one, and the rise in home prices made it more difficult than ever for low- and moderate-income families to purchase a home of their own. Faced with greater needs, VCCDC rose to the challenge and achieved great things for 1,800+ families and individuals who we served. Take a look at our 2021 impact and help us continue our work in 2022 and beyond!
