26 recruits graduate from Allan Hancock College’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy

SANTA MARIA — Twenty-six recruits graduated from Allan Hancock College’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy on Dec. 3 at the college’s Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc. 

The graduating recruits of Class #25-130 gathered with their friends and families to celebrate the completion of more than 871 training hours required to graduate from the academy and enter careers as peace officers. All?of the recruits have already been hired by Central Coast?law?enforcement?agencies.

“Today is the day you’ve been eagerly waiting for after more than a year,” Guadalupe Police Chief Michael Cash told the graduating recruits. “You have overcome every obstacle presented to you to get to this moment.”

During the academy, the recruits received training in community policing, search and seizure, firearms, ethics, investigation procedures, patrol techniques, arrest and control, physical training, CPR/First Aid, emergency vehicle operations, and other important skills.

“We started as many, but now we stand as one,” said academy graduate?and former Cal Poly football player?Jeremy Justice. “Football taught me how to overcome adversity. This academy showed me the kind of person I need to be moving forward.”

After graduating from the academy, Justice is one of two recruits who will go on to work for the Cal Poly Police Department. The other academy graduates will be employed by the Pismo Beach, Paso Robles, Guadalupe, Lompoc, Atascadero, Santa Barbara, UC Santa Barbara,?and Santa Maria police departments, as well as the San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County sheriff’s offices.

VEINTISÉIS RECLUTAS SE GRADÚAN DE LA ACADEMIA DE POLICÍA DE HANCOCK

El 3 de diciembre, Allan Hancock College festejo a veintiséis reclutas de su Academia de Policía en el Public Safety Training Center de Lompoc.

Los reclutas de la clase #25-130 se reunieron con sus familiares y amigos para celebrar el final de más de 871 horas de entrenamiento necesario para graduarse de la academia y entrar a la fuerza como oficiales. Todos los reclutas han sido contratados por agencias policiales de la Costa Central.

“Hoy por fin llega el día que tanto habían esperado después de más de un año,” dijo Michael Cash, jefe de policía de Guadalupe. “Superaron todos los retos y obstáculos para llegar a este momento.”

En la academia, los reclutas recibieron entrenamiento en leyes de arresto, seguridad comunitaria, armas de fuego, ética, técnicas de vigilancia, primeros auxilios, y operaciones de vehículos de emergencia.

“Empezamos siendo muchos, pero hoy nos mantenemos como uno solo,” dijo Jeremy Justice, recluta y exjugador de futbol americano en Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. “El futbol me enseñó a superar la adversidad. Esta academia me mostró el tipo de persona que debo ser de aquí en adelante.”

Justice es uno de dos reclutas que trabajarán para el departamento de policía de Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Los otros graduados serán contratados por las agencias de Pismo Beach, Paso Robles, Guadalupe, Lompoc, Atascadero, Santa Barbara, UC Santa Barbara y Santa María, así como las oficinas del Santa Barbara County Sheriff y del San Luis Obispo County Sheriff.
