SANTA PAULA — The Santa Paula Art Museum and the California Oil Museum are teaming up to launch a new summer camp in downtown Santa Paula for children in grades K-5. The week-long Museum Exploratory Summer Camp will be held July 31, 2017 through August 4, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. Campers will have a behind the scenes adventure at both the Santa Paula Art Museum and the California Oil Museum as they explore the museums’ exhibits and participate in hands-on art and science projects in the museums’ PLAYlabs. The cost of the full week of camp is $125.00 per child. Space is limited.
Throughout the week, camp projects will be designed to complement and reinforce exhibit themes at each museum. Museum Educators will lead collaborative discussions, idea exchanges and questioning strategies to encourage critical thinking, interpretation and verbalization skills. Camp Explorers will be introduced to new art and science materials, concepts, and techniques, and will build skills through playful, creative and engaging activities.
