WESTLAKE VILLAGE — The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is taking signups for its Adventure Guides for the 2022-2023 school year.
YMCA Adventure Guides is for fathers and their children. It is designed to strengthen and build a lifelong relationship between parent and child through outdoor adventure activities, camping trips and monthly events. Parent-child pairs join a “Circle” with families in their neighborhood or school and participate in activities together. Campout locations include Leo Carrillo State Park, Catalina Island and El Capitan State Beach.
Y-Adventure Guides are for children in kindergarten through second grade. Y-Trailblazers are for children in third grade and up. Instilled in all activities are core values found in all YMCA programs: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
A kick-off BBQ and movie night will take place at the Yarrow Family YMCA in Westlake Village (31105 Thousand Oaks Blvd.) on Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m.
“We can all become so busy in our daily lives that quality family time is often missing,” says Tori Cusack, Youth and Family Program Director at the Y. “Adventure Guides brings parents and their children closer together.”
