Ventura Music Festival announces 2011 performers, artists

Artists and admirers gathered during the preview reception for the 2011 Ventura Music Festival held Dec. 8 at the Museum of Ventura County, Ventura.

The event featured the introduction of the festival’s 17th season performers and artists by Nuvi Mehta, artistic director for the festival, and the introduction of the 2011 festival art by Cheryl Heitmann, executive director of the festival. The art exhibition can be seen through April 1, 2011.

The music festival, “Caravana Muzica,” opens with jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval performing at 8 p.m. Feb. 12, 2011 at Seaside Park in Ventura. The festival concludes on May 7, 2011. Other performers include Tea & Trumpets, April 29; pianist Roberto Prosseda, April 29; Mark O’Connor String Quartet, April 30; jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, May 1; pianist Martina Filjak, May 3; Rising Stars! soloists, May 5; The Festival Brass, May 6; Ensemble Muzica, May 6 and The Roby Lakotos Ensemble, May 7.
