June is a special month at VCCDC, it’s National Homeownership Month! It’s a great time to highlight the impact of homeownership especially as one of the best tools to build wealth for low- and moderate- income families.
At the core of our mission is the belief that a home is more than a place to live. It is the cornerstone of any individual’s and family’s economic, environmental and social well being. For the past 23 years we have worked to advance affordable homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income families through our programs, services and advocacy. We are proud to have assisted more than 3,500 families with purchasing a home, becoming mortgage ready or preserving their home. We’ve done this through our array of services which have served over 23,000 people with education and financial coaching, provided more than $209 million in mortgage financing and awarded more than $12 million in down payment assistance.
Challenges such as rising home prices and rising interest rates can prevent families from accessing the benefits of homeownership. Despite this difficult landscape, VCCDC continues to address these challenges head-on by providing high quality education and financial coaching services, awarding funds for down payment assistance to low- and moderate-income families, creating new down payment assistance programs, partnering with municipalities and developers to create affordable homeownership opportunities, advocating for change at the local, state and federal level and much more that happens behind the scenes!
One of the ways in which we celebrate Homeownership Month at VCCDC is by hosting our Annual Virtual Homeownership Conference! This free event promotes the resources from VCCDC and our partners that can make homeownership possible for low- and moderate- income families and individuals across Central and Southern California. We invite you to join us on Saturday, June 22nd for our 12th Annual Virtual Homeownership Conference – A New Way Home. This event promises to be both informative and engaging, featuring a panel of experts, workshops covering the latest homebuying topics, and the opportunity to interact with experts live in our Virtual Exhibit Hall. Due to popular demand, we have brought back our Virtual Loan Center which provides the opportunity for participants to meet with a loan expert to explore their homebuying potential We invite you to take advantage of the invaluable resources that will be provided at our Conference. Register for free at www.vccdc.org/hoc.
Homeownership continues to be an important factor for building generational wealth and we are committed to continuing our work so that working families can achieve and preserve the dream of homeownership. Happy Homeownership Month! |
