Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) Partners with DocuPet!

VENTURA COUNTY — Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) is thrilled to announce its partnership with DocuPet, a world-leading pet profile, lost pet, and licensing platform, making pet licensing more accessible and valuable than ever for residents.  DocuPet is known for its innovative HomeSafe™ 24/7 lost pet service, offering residents an effective pet identification and reunification program that prioritizes keeping pets out of shelters and reuniting them with their owners.

While pet licensing is mandatory for all dogs in Ventura County (over 4 month) and cats (over 4 months) who live in the cities of Moorpark and Oxnard, many pet owners have not been consistent with this requirement. With the introduction of this exciting partnership, DocuPet and VCAS aim to attract more community pet owners to participate in the program.

Residents can now explore a wide array of colorful and unique designer license tag styles online or design their own tags using a user-friendly customization tool. Each DocuPet tag doubles as a pet’s official license and comes with a unique code on the back, directly linked to the pet’s secure online profile. This seamless integration allows anyone who finds a lost pet to create a Found Pet Report within seconds, ensuring a swift and safe reunion. Pet owners can also create Lost Pet Reports as soon as their pets go missing. Moreover, DocuPet’s dedicated dispatch staff is available 24/7 to facilitate reunions between lost pets and their families.

Jackie Rose, Director of Animal Services at VCAS, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited about our partnership with DocuPet and believe their online licensing solution will be extremely valuable to pet owners and a necessity for animal safety within the community.”  By licensing their pets through DocuPet, residents not only help reunite lost pets with their families but also contribute to public safety and offset the costs of animal services in the community.

DocuPet’s innovative platform will provide significant resources to VCAS, enabling more efficient operations and critical animal services for the community. Grant Goodwin, DocuPet’s CEO, said, “We are very proud to kick off this effective program with VCAS to increase pet identification and reunification services for all residents. Pets wearing DocuPet license tags spend little to no time in the shelter versus unlicensed pets, and for those pets that do need support and care, license fees help keep the shelter running. We thank VCAS for coming on board to be an impactful part of the solution.”

DocuPet is available to pet owners in Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Ventura, and Unincorporated Ventura County. Licensing fees for dogs in VCAS jurisdictions and cats in Moorpark and Oxnard will have late fees waived for 90 days post-launch.

For more information and to register your pet’s license online using DocuPet, please visit www.vcas.us/licensing after October 17th 2023 when the online portal goes live!  Licensing by mail, phone, and in-person options remain available.

Thank you,
