Credit union team partners with Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties to raise $5,000 for playset

VENTURA COUNTY — Delilah is an energetic 5-year-old who always has a smile on her face. She also has a nervous system disorder that causes seizures and has endured many hospital visits in her young life. She loves to play outside with her sister, so she and her family wished for a backyard playset with a shady playhouse. In partnership with Make-A-Wish® Tri-Counties, Ventura County Credit Union employees helped make Delilah’s wish come true.

Through a series of fun employee events and activities, VCCU raised $5,000 to make Delilah’s wish come true. Her playset has a slide, swings, a climbing wall and a playhouse that Delilah can enjoy all year long.

“Delilah’s story really touched all of our hearts,” said Pattie Mullins, CEO of Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties. “It is an honor to be able to make a difference for such a deserving child. A huge thank you to the VCCU team for helping make this wonderful wish come true.”

Her wish was granted and revealed recently with a surprise celebration in her family’s backyard, which was decorated with signs and balloons to honor the occasion. VCCU employees Edith Campa, Tina Estes, Daisy Gonzales and Mandi Evans attended the wish reveal and celebrated with the local family.

Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has granted the wishes of more than 2,100 local children. The organization funds wishes through corporate sponsorships, special events, foundation grants and individual contributions.

VCCU’s partnership with Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties is one of many examples of the credit union’s community involvement. Each year VCCU participates in and/or sponsors more than 500 local events and collaborates with numerous local businesses, schools and nonprofits to help Ventura County thrive.
