April is Fair Housing Month and this year is the 54th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, the landmark civil rights law signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on April 11,1968, that made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful.?The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing due to race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, and familial status. We are pleased to welcome Martin P. Sanchez to VCCDC’s Advisory Board! Martin is Vice President, West Region Market Leader, Mortgage Outreach for Wells Fargo. In this role, he and the Mortgage Outreach Team operates as the link between the company, stakeholders, and the communities it serves within the Home Lending group. Before joining Wells Fargo, Martin was Senior Financial Analyst at IndyMac Bank, supporting Secondary Marketing & Correspondent Lending, and Homeownership Advisor at JPMorgan Chase, working with customers to provide home retention options.
Martin joins a diverse group of dedicated advisory board members who are responsible for advising VCCDC on challenges and opportunities and sharing their knowledge on issues affecting the communities that we serve. Welcome aboard, Martin!

Ventura County Community Development Corporation’s Homeownership Conference has grown from being our region’s largest homeownership event to a can’t-miss virtual conference for homebuyers and homeowners across Central and Southern California. We are thrilled to bring you our 10th Annual Homeownership Conference: “A New Way Home”!
Attendees will enjoy workshops (a few available in Spanish) on relevant topics for homebuyers and homeowners; network with industry experts; learn about programs offering more than $100,000 in down payment or closing costs assistance, and participate in fun games with opportunities to win up to $200 in gift cards. New for 2022 is our Virtual Loan Center which will provide conference attendees who are interested borrowers the opportunity to be pre-qualified on the day of event!

HOMEBUYING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS UPDATE
From Here Forward Program: Made possible with funds from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), the From Here Forward Deferred Loan Program, offers up to $100,000 in home buying assistance for low-to moderate-income borrowers who were physically or economically displaced by the Thomas Fire or Woolsey Fire in Ventura County. Were you temporarily unemployed due to the fires? Was the property your resided in damaged by the fires? Did your experience an increase in rent after the fires? If so, you may qualify. WISH Update: The Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership (WISH) matching grant program from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco is now available! The WISH program offers eligible low- to moderate-income households 4-to-1 matching grants of up to $22,000 that can be applied towards down payment and closing costs for the purchase of a home. WISH grants help working families and individuals move from renting to owning and can complement or supplement many local, state, and federal homeownership programs and initiatives. Funds cannot be reserved and they exhaust quickly so contact us today!
HUD Income Limits: The federal income limits for 2022 have been released by HUD. We are happy to report that there has been an increase to the income limits allowing for more families to potentially qualify! In 2021, the income limit for a family of 4 in Ventura County was $89,700, in 2022 it has increased to $100,350. The income limits vary by household size and county. FAIR HOUSING WORKSHOP
